In a room filled with service, sacrifice, and sisterhood, women veterans gathered in Cedar Hill on June 11 for a powerful recognition event dedicated to honoring their stories beyond the uniform.

Hosted in partnership with DAV Chapter 240 and Visit Cedar Hill, the event brought women veterans together for a day centered on encouragement and connection. Attendees shared space with fellow veterans, celebrated the strength of women who have served, and took part in meaningful moments designed to acknowledge both the visible and unseen parts of their journeys.

For many, the event served as a profound reminder that their service is remembered, their experiences matter, and their continued impact is deeply valued.

“Today was an astonishing day in Cedar Hill, Texas, as women veterans came together to shed and shred wounds from their past, speak life into their future, and connect with fellow sisters on a journey that reminds us that we served and are seen,” said Monica Davis, Committee Chair and retired U.S. Army veteran. “Coffey Anderson said it best: you can’t spell hero without her.”

The gathering held special meaning in Cedar Hill, a designated Purple Heart City recognized for its commitment to honoring the sacrifices of service members. That distinction reflects the city’s broader dedication to recognizing veterans, military families, and those who continue to serve their communities beyond their time in uniform.

The event also strengthened the partnership between local veteran advocates and Visit Cedar Hill, reinforcing the city’s role as a place where service members are recognized not only for what they have given, but for who they continue to be.
